Best restaurants
This is the widest ranking on the site: sixty restaurants with a public rating, carrying more than 78,000 reviews between them. It covers every kitchen in town, from beach clubs to three table taperías.
The top of the table is not where you would expect
The leaders are a burger house, a pasta kitchen and one beach club, on ratings of 4.7 to 4.8 with several hundred reviews each. The busiest places on the promenade, with close to five thousand opinions apiece, sit further down. That is worth understanding: volume counts as evidence, but it stops adding once a place has a few hundred reviews, so past that point only the rating moves anyone.
What the ranking cannot tell you
Which one you will like. A 4.5 across five thousand opinions and a 4.9 across seventy are two different statements, not two grades. The first is a reliable average of a very mixed crowd; the second is a small group that mostly agrees. Read them as what they are.
Use the trade rankings instead
If you already know what you want to eat, the ranking by trade is more useful than this one: beach bars, tapas, seafood, pizza, burgers, Asian food and ice cream each have their own table, and comparing a chiringuito with a pizzeria was never going to answer a real question.
