Marisqueria El Senuelo

El Senuelo works as a fry shop and a seafood restaurant at once, on Calle Patron Veneno, a few metres in from the promenade. That short distance is the whole difference in price and in noise between this street and the seafront.

It handles fish from the coast of the Axarquia with recipes that have not changed in decades, and its customers keep naming the house made dishes, the fish salad among them. This is neighbourhood cooking, not a menu written for visitors, and I would order from it the way a neighbour does: whatever is fried that day, plus one thing from the counter.

It serves at midday and at night and closes on Tuesdays. For dinner it is a good answer to a common problem here, which is wanting seafood at ten at night without a first line terrace and a first line bill.
