Healthcare
This is the page a resident needs rather than a visitor, so here is the practical version.
Public healthcare
The health centre in Calle Eduardo Iglesias is the entry point to the Andalusian public health system. Appointments with a family doctor are booked by phone through Salud Responde or through the ClicSalud+ app, not by queueing at the desk.
There is no hospital in Torre del Mar. Anything beyond primary care goes to the Hospital Comarcal de la Axarquía in Vélez-Málaga, a few minutes away by car. For a life-threatening emergency the number is 061, and the general emergency number in Spain is 112.
Pharmacies
There are eight in town, concentrated along Avenida de Andalucía and the centre. Spanish pharmacies do far more than dispense: they take blood pressure, advise on medication and resolve a great deal without an appointment. For the duty pharmacy outside normal hours, check the official rota published by the Málaga pharmacists' association, which is updated daily.
Private care
The town has private medical centres and consultants working with the main insurers, which is the usual route to a specialist without a waiting list. The directory covers nine health specialities, from dentists to physiotherapy and opticians, each verified. That part is in Spanish.
