Chiringuito Boqueron

The Chiringuito Boqueron holds one of the central positions of the promenade, which in practice means you will walk past it whatever you had planned. It is a fish house before anything else: espetos, whole fish over the coals, and whatever came in that day.

Municipal tourist information lists it as opening daily on a long schedule, morning through to midnight, and in a town where many kitchens close between services that is worth remembering. Its rating is a 4.3 built on more than three thousand reviews, which is the profile of a place that serves a great many people and keeps most of them happy.

What I would order here is not the sardine but the fish of the day off the coals, asked for whole and shared between two. That is the dish this stretch of coast does better than anywhere inland, and it costs less than the equivalent would in Malaga city, thirty kilometres west.
