Sirena Beach Club

Sirena Beach Club stands at the western end of the promenade, right by the lighthouse, which makes it the easiest of all these places to find and the last one before the beach runs out. The house says the Nieto family has been at the front of it since 1967, and that date matters: it was here decades before the word beach club existed on this coast.

The scale is unusual for the town. More than a hundred and fifty seats, sun loungers, a massage area and live music on the programme, and at the same time a kitchen that still serves the sardine skewer and the salmorejo. That mix of the old chiringuito and the club format is exactly what it is, and it explains a rating of 4.2 that sits below the small quiet places.

What I would use it for is the sunset. The lighthouse end faces the open water, the terrace is large enough that you rarely fail to get a table, and it opens from morning through to late. Come early in the day if you want the loungers, because those go first in July and August.
