Storage is the bigger need here, and that says something

People in this town search for a storage unit more often than for a removal firm. In a place with small seasonal flats, a trastero is where the surfboard, the beach furniture and the winter things live. Note that many flats are sold with a trastero included in the deeds as an annexe, so check what you already own before renting one.

What to check before signing

• Access hours. Some units are open around the clock and some are not, and it changes what you can store there.
• Whether the contents are insured, and by whom. It is normally not the operator.
• Damp. This is a coastal town. Ask about ventilation before storing anything made of paper, fabric or electronics.

Moving into a flat here

Old streets in the centre are narrow and many buildings have small lifts. A removal firm that works in this town knows which streets need a permit to park a van and which staircases mean the furniture goes up by the balcony. Ask them to look at the address before quoting.
