Ice cream

Heladeria La Alicantina

La Alicantina stands on the Acera de la Marina, which puts it within a minute of the sand and makes it the natural stop after a swim. The name states the lineage: the Alicante school of ice cream that spread along this coast and stayed.

It offers a wide flavour list and has step free access, a detail I record on purpose because in a town of narrow old doorways it is not the norm and it decides where some people can and cannot go. The group also keeps a second counter on Avenida del Doctor Gregorio Maranon.

Of the ice cream shops here this is the one with the most straightforward beach logic: you are wet, you are hungry, it is thirty two degrees, and it is fifty metres away. Hours widen in the beach season and shrink outside it, so ask if you come in winter.
