Eating out

Cafés

There are ten cafés in Torre del Mar, split between the centre and the promenade.

What breakfast means here

Toast and coffee. Usually tostada with olive oil and grated tomato, sometimes with Iberian ham, and a coffee. It is served early and it is cheap. If you are expecting a full cooked breakfast, that is not the local habit, though some places on the seafront do it for visitors.

Centre or promenade

They are not the same choice. The promenade gives you the sea in front of you and charges accordingly. The centre is where the town has its own breakfast, and it is where you will find a table in August.

Two things worth knowing

  • Several are café and cake shop at once. If you want to order something for a celebration, check which ones bake on the premises.
  • Coffee vocabulary. Ordering just "a coffee" will get you a question back. There are half a dozen standard measures here, and the staff will happily explain them.
