Torre del Mar holds an Oktoberfest over a weekend in mid October, on the Avenida Toré Toré. A Bavarian festival on the Andalusian coast sounds like a stretch until you remember how many Northern Europeans live on this stretch of coast.

What it is

Beer, German food, music and a tent on the seafront avenue. It is a town event rather than a tourist one at this point, attended by the local population as much as by the foreign residents who inspired it.

Why mid October is a good time to be here anyway

The sea is still warm enough to swim, the town works at a normal pace, and accommodation costs a fraction of the August price. If you were looking for a reason to come outside the season, this weekend is one.
