What to see
Live webcam
The live camera pointing at the beach is, by a wide margin, the most searched subject about Torre del Mar. Counting every variant it runs at around 5,900 searches a month, six times the volume of what to see in the town. That is worth stating plainly, because it says something about who is looking.
The most watched camera in the region
In a statement published on 18 July 2023, the town hall of Vélez-Málaga reported that the Torre del Mar beach camera was the most watched on the Andalucía Live platform, ahead of points in Granada, Cádiz and Seville. For a town of this size, that is a remarkable figure.
Where the cameras are
- The beach camera, maintained by the town hall and linked from its tourism portal in the section on beach conditions.
- The promenade camera, operated by the Hotel Miraya and listed in webcam directories since March 2016.
- A wind camera in the area of the sailing club, used by windsurfers and kitesurfers.
What people actually use it for
Three different things. Checking the state of the sea and the flag before walking down to the beach. Checking the easterly wind before going out to sail or kitesurf. And, for foreign residents and for summer people out of season, simply looking at a place they miss.
What it does not tell you
It shows the sea and the sky at this moment, which is exactly what a forecast cannot do. For tomorrow, use a weather service rather than the camera.
We link to the official sources rather than embedding the image, because streaming addresses change and a broken window is worse than a link that works.
