Renting through a local agency instead of an international platform changes two things in practice. Somebody hands you the keys and answers the phone from a few streets away when the boiler stops, and the flats are inspected by people who will have to look you in the eye afterwards. What to ask before you pay

Ask for the tourist registration number of the flat, which every legal holiday let in Andalusia must have. Ask what the deposit is and how it comes back. And ask about air conditioning, floor and lift together, because a third floor with no lift and no air is a different holiday in August. None of these questions is unusual here, and asking them marks you out as somebody who knows how it works.
