Council office

Torre del Mar is a district of Vélez-Málaga, so it has no town hall of its own. What it has is a district office, the Tenencia de Alcaldía, in the Casa de Larios, and that covers most of what a resident needs without travelling to Vélez.

What is handled here

• The padrón, the municipal population register. This is the key document and the first thing to sort out after moving: schooling, access to the health centre and municipal discounts all depend on it.
• Land registry queries, municipal tax payments and civil weddings.

Practical

• Book an appointment where the procedure allows it. It is the difference between ten minutes and a whole morning.
• Not everything is municipal. Tax office, traffic and social security matters go elsewhere, and for those the town has gestorías that handle the paperwork.
