How tapas actually works here

This is Andalusia, not Granada: the tapa is not automatically free with your drink in most of these bars, though a couple serve something small with it. You order from a list, usually at the bar, and you pay for what you order. Standing at the counter is normal and often faster than waiting for a table.

Timing

Nobody eats at seven. Lunch runs from around two and dinner from around nine, and a bar that looks empty at eight in the evening will be full at ten. An empty room early is not a verdict on the food.
