Seven law firms in Torre del Mar carry a public rating, with more than 700 reviews between them. Three of the seven hold a perfect 5.0, one of them across 257 opinions, which is an unusual combination in any profession and rare in this one. None of the three tops the table.
Settle the fee before you tell them the case
A Spanish lawyer charges in one of three ways, and which one applies changes everything: a fixed fee for the matter, an hourly rate, or a percentage of what is recovered. Ask which before the first meeting turns into work. A written engagement letter setting out the basis is normal practice and you should have one.

Property purchase and sale, inheritance, residence and immigration matters, and disputes with a community of owners or a landlord. Not every firm covers all of it, and a firm that does not do your area will usually say so straight away.
Two things worth knowing
- Ask for the bar membership number. Every practising lawyer is registered with a provincial bar association, and it is a normal question.
- The estate agent's lawyer is not your lawyer. In a property purchase, independent advice is the whole point of paying for it.
