Eight carpentry and window workshops in Torre del Mar carry a public rating. It is a trade of small workshops: the whole sector holds around 135 reviews, so the leaders are separated by a handful of opinions rather than by hundreds.
Aluminium and PVC lead, and that is the local reality
The top of the table works in aluminium and PVC rather than wood. On this coast that is what windows are made of, because of salt and sun rather than fashion, and wood is kept for interiors. When you are replacing windows, the two things that change the result are the thermal break in the frame and the glazing unit. Ask about both by name.
What else these workshops do
- Fitted wardrobes and interior doors, built to the dimensions of the flat, which in older buildings with walls that are not straight is the only thing that works.
- Persianas, the external roller shutters that every flat here has. When the strap or the mechanism goes, this is who fixes it.
- Fly screens, which are fitted separately because windows do not come with them.
One workshop is a trade in itself
Among these there is a boat carpenter, a carpintería de ribera, the traditional craft of building and repairing wooden boats. In a town that was a fishing village before it was a resort, that survival is worth a mention.
