The municipal pool, the **J. Eduardo Hernández**, is on Calle Lucero and it is **indoor**, so you can swim all year regardless of the beach season. It is run by the Vélez-Málaga sports department and offers free swimming, swimming courses and water activities.

## Three practical notes

- **Hours change between winter and summer**, extending in season. Check before turning up with your bag.
- **Courses run by term and they fill.** Children's swimming is the first thing to sell out, especially at the start of the school year.
- **It is municipal, with what that implies.** Public pricing, and being on the municipal register usually counts towards the fee, which makes it the cheapest way to train here compared with the private gyms.
