# Food market

The municipal food market is in **Calle del Río**, in the centre, and it opens **Monday to Saturday in the mornings**. This is the fresh produce of the town: fish landed locally, meat, fruit and vegetables, sold across a counter by the person who sells it.

## Do not confuse it with the street market

They are two different things. The **street market** is open-air, Thursday only, and in another part of town. The food market is covered, fixed and open almost every day.

## Two practical notes

- **Fish is chosen first thing.** That is when the day's catch arrives and the stall still has the full range, and in a coastal town that shows.
- **It covers what the supermarket does not.** Specific cuts, exact quantities and advice from whoever is selling. For the big weekly shop, the supermarkets on the avenue are still the answer.
