Town hall

# Council office

Torre del Mar is a district of **Vélez-Málaga**, so it has no town hall of its own. What it has is a **district office**, the _Tenencia de Alcaldía_, in the Casa de Larios, and that covers most of what a resident needs without travelling to Vélez.

## What is handled here

- **The _padrón_**, the municipal population register. This is the key document and the first thing to sort out after moving: schooling, access to the health centre and municipal discounts all depend on it.
- Land registry queries, municipal tax payments and civil weddings.

## Practical

- **Book an appointment where the procedure allows it.** It is the difference between ten minutes and a whole morning.
- **Not everything is municipal.** Tax office, traffic and social security matters go elsewhere, and for those the town has gestorías that handle the paperwork.
